Storm Floris: Pictures from around the UK

Around 50,000 people are without power across Scotland as a result of Storm Floris.

Travel disruption is also expected to continue on Tuesday as the clear-up continues after the amber weather alert, which also hit parts of England, Northern Ireland and Wales.

While the worst of the weather has now passed, a yellow warning for wind remains in place for the Orkney and Shetland islands.

Storm Floris brought heavy rain and high winds, with gusts of up to 90mph recorded in some places. The Met Office said summer storms caused problems as trees were in full leaf and were more likely to be toppled with branches broken off.
