3D printed ears being tested by doctors in London

Doctors in London are testing 3D printed ears, which could be used to help children who were born without them.

The ears are 3D printed using a special type of plastic.

The plan is to implant the ear under the patient's arm, so that skin and blood vessels can grow around it. It would then be transferred to the person's head.

The next step is to trial the operation in India.

If things go well, then it could mean massive changes to how organ transplants work in the future.
