Boys talk about dramatic kayak rescue

Ricky's been to meet two boys who were rescued by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) after their kayak got into strong waters.

There was a lifeguard on duty at the time and she spotted the boys were in trouble.

She managed to reach the kayak and bring the two boys back safely to the beach.

The RNLI wants people to take care - they say even though the water may seem calm, there could be strong currents underneath that make it difficult to swim.

If you do get caught in a strong current that take you out to sea here's the advice from the RNLI:

  • stay calm - don't panic

  • if you can stand, wade don't swim

  • keep hold of your board or inflatable to help you float

  • raise your hand and shout for help

  • never try to swim directly against the strong current or you'll get exhausted

  • swim in a line parallel to the beach until you're free of the current and head for shore
