How to watch the Perseid meteor shower

One of the most dazzling meteor showers of the year will be lighting up the sky this weekend.

The Perseid shooting stars are due to peak overnight on Thursday 11 August.

The chances of a spectacular show are said to be excellent but only if skies are clear.

By 1am on Friday morning, the showers will be almost overhead for people watching it in the UK.
