Who was Frederick Douglass?

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery around 1818 in Maryland in the US.

He made his final escape from slavery in 1838 and became involved with the abolitionist movement where he campaigned to end the practice.

He want on to play a big part in the movement, working hard to see other African Americans secure freedom.
