Donald Trump to give his first speech after being shot and injured

Donald Trump will speak in public tonight for the first time since he was shot at and injured during a political event last Saturday.

Mr Trump narrowly avoided serious injury in the shooting, which saw the former president receive a wound to his right ear.

Donald Trump is the presidential candidate for the Republican party and hopes to be re-elected, by beating the current president, Joe Biden, in the US elections this November.

The BBC's North America Correspondent Nomia Iqbal is at the Republican Convention in Milwaukee where the speech will take place and sent Newsround this report.
