Nicola Adams, Lisa Whiteside and Savannah Marshall win EU golds

Nicola Adams, Lisa Whiteside and Savannah Marshall secured three gold medals for Britain at the European Union Amateur Championships in Hungary.

Flyweight Adams, 30, overcame Bulgaria's Stoyka Petrova to retain her EU title before bantamweight Whiteside, 27, beat Czech Alice Sramkova.

Marshall, 22, beat Dutch middleweight Nouchka Mirielle Fountin to claim gold.

Ireland's Olympic champion Katie Taylor, 27, saw off France's Estelle Mossely to win lightweight gold.

The four-time world champion claimed her fifth EU gold with the unanimous win over Mossely, who had beaten Britain's Natasha Jonas in the semi-finals on Friday.

Liverpudlian Jonas had to settle for bronze following the last-four defeat.

Adams comfortably beat her opponent, who she also beat at London 2012 in the quarter-finals on her way to Olympic gold.

The Leeds native, who won EU gold in 2011 in Poland, was in her first tournament since claiming that Olympic gold last year.

Despite Petrova proving to be a tough opponent in the flyweight decider, Adams was able to control the contest throughout on her way to a unanimous decision victory.

Preston's Whiteside, who won bronze at last year's World Championships in China, knocked Sramkova down in the first to put herself in control of the bantamweight final before seeing out the win on a unanimous decision.

Reigning world champion Marshall completed the triple gold medal haul as the Hartlepool middleweight put in a blistering final round to ensure the judges handed her a unanimous decision.

In the junior finals, Britain's Ebonie Jones and Chantelle Reid also claimed gold at 50kg and 70kg respectively.
