Captain Matthew Hoggard has signed a one-year extension to his Leicestershire contract, keeping him at Grace Road until the end of 2013.
Former England bowler Hoggard, 35, led Leicestershire to FL t20 trophy success last season.
He has taken 83 first-class wickets for the county since joining them from Yorkshire in 2010.
Hoggard said: "We have some talented youngsters here and I am excited about the prospect of their development."
He continued: "These are vibrant times at the club and I am pleased to be a part of what is happening at Grace Road."
Hoggard, who took 248 wickets in his international international career, is sitting out the current County Championship game at former club Yorkshire after dislocating a finger in a training session.
Leicestershire chief executive Mike Siddall said: "Matthew has been an inspiration both on and off the field since he joined us and I am delighted he will be around for a further season."
