Jacques Rudolph hit the highest one-day score of his career and the best for Glamorgan in List A cricket as they beat Sussex by seven wickets.

Rudolph's unbeaten 169 beat Sir Viv Richards' 162 for Glamorgan against Oxfordshire in 1992 and eclipsed a superb 127 for Sussex by Luke Wright.

That was the England player's best one-day score for his county, who made a formidable-looking 323-3 off 48 overs.

Rain adjusted Glamorgan's target to 329 and they won with eight balls to spare.

Rudolph, who hit 111 against Somerset earlier this month and 101 against Nottinghamshire in July, faced 150 deliveries and hit 17 fours and three sixes as he batted for the entire Glamorgan innings, which finished on 330-3.

He shared a second-wicket stand of 173 with Gareth Rees (60) and then a century partnership for the third wicket with Murray Goodwin (59).

It meant the South African opener had scored 575 runs in the competition.

Earlier, Wright's innings meant that he had scored a century in his last innings in all three forms of the county game - List A, County Championship and T20,

Harry Finch boosted Sussex's score with an unbeaten 92 off only 58 deliveries but ultimately it was not enough for victory.

Neither side has made the last eight of the One-Day Cup.

Sussex opener Luke Wright told BBC Radio Sussex:

"I am delighted with my own form - what you want to do is score as many runs as possible.

"Overall we have not been good enough this year in white-ball cricket and it has been disappointing. Someone needs to go on and get a big score - and throughout the tournament we haven't quite had that.

"Harry Finch's knock was a special one. Even in T20 you can see how a player looks and he looks like he's got something.

"Some of the shots he played were special today - he's got to now build on this. Fair play to him - he played some unbelievable shots and is certainly exciting for us next year."

Sussex batsman Harry Finch told BBC Radio Sussex:

"I'm a bit shellshocked and it hasn't sunk in and I don't think it will until the morning.

"I was pleased to get a game having been 12th man all season. It was really nice to get out there and show what I can do.

"I love batting with Wrighty - he makes the game a lot clearer and a lot more fun and he is a fantastic player as his form suggests.

"It is my first year and I am just learning the game, but when I do get a chance to play it is great to get out there and play with that freedom."
