Darren Stevens and Matt Coles bowled Kent to a comprehensive 316-run County Championship victory against Glamorgan on the final day at Cardiff.
Chasing an improbable target of 554, Glamorgan resumed on 101-2.
Stevens and Coles reduced the hosts to 132-7 within the first hour as a finish before lunch looked a possibility.
But Colin Ingram struck a maiden Championship century for Glamorgan off 174 balls to avoid a record defeat as they were bowled out for 237.
The victory was Kent's fourth Championship win of the season and a sixth defeat of the campaign for a Glamorgan side who looked promotion contenders until last month.
Kent climb a place to seventh while Glamorgan drop to fourth behind Essex.
Glamorgan batsman Colin Ingram told BBC Wales Sport:
"I didn't think it would mean as much as it does (to get a first Championship century), it's been a long hard graft through the season.
"I've got plenty of starts and hopefully I can take these last few games as an opportunity to build a good game for next season.
"Darren Stevens was really making the ball talk this morning. Looking through the season at his stats, he's a really good performer for them and he bowled some tricky spells so congratulations to him on his five-for."
