Giro d'Italia 2013: Stage-by-stage guide
- Published
Vincenzo Nibali produced a dominant display in the three-week Giro d'Italia to wrap up his first victory in the race.
The Italian, who rides for the Astana team, took the race lead on stage eight and never looked like relinquishing the pink jersey as illness forced main rivals Sir Bradley Wiggins and defending champion Ryder Hesjedal to quit after stage 12.
Wiggins's Team Sky team-mate Rigoberto Uran finished second with Australia's BMC rider Cadel Evans third.
Britain's Mark Cavendish won five stages to take the red jersey and become just the fifth rider to win the points classification in all three Grand Tours, while compatriot Alex Dowsett won a stage on his Grand Tour debut.
