Blyth Spartans have appointed Whitley Bay assistant boss Steve Cuggy as manager, following the departure of Mick Tait.

Cuggy, 40, has also been joined at Croft Park by Seahorses' coach Gavin Fell to form a new management team at the Blue Square Bet North club.

A former Spartans player, Cuggy also played for Maidstone and Sunderland.

Former boss Tait left the club after his two-year deal expired at the end of the season.
