Dartford 1-0 Welling United

Dartford booked their place in the top flight of non-league after beating Welling in the Blue Square Bet South play-off final.

Lee Noble's powerful 20-yard strike after just four minutes was enough to secure the Darts promotion.

The Wings searched for an equaliser but Loick Pries' shot was well-saved by Louis Wells and Joe Healey's effort sailed over the bar.

Elliot Bradbrook almost made it 2-0 but Craig Holloway tipped over his header.

Dartford manager Tony Burman told BBC Radio Kent:

"Everyone says the team that finishes fifth and makes that late run usually get in there - but we've been so professional, so consistent and yes we finished second but we were the ones who gave Woking a run for their money.

"I'm delighted for the players. They've worked so, so hard and this was their just rewards.

"Second half our fitness told but we played a good side and today it's what dreams are made of.

"It's not just our club because Princes Park is a statement in the area. It's grown and it's going at a decent pace. We're not running before we can walk."

Welling player/manager Jamie Day told BBC Radio Kent:

"We were disappointed to concede an early goal and for all of the possession we had, we probably lacked a little bit in the final third.

"I'm pleased with the effort and the commitment shown and I think the boys can be proud of what they achieved this year.

"It was a great goal. If you're going to lose, if it's a goal like that you can half accept it.

"I didn't think Dartford created that many clear chances. I thought defensively we played well, we moved the ball but I'm just a little disappointed with the end product."
