Luton 0-0 Wrexham

Promotion rivals Luton and Wrexham claimed a point each in a tight encounter at Kenilworth Road.

Home goalkeeper Mark Tyler denied Wrexham debutant Andy Bishop a late winner as the visitors enjoyed the better chances in the second half.

The Dragons also carved opportunities for Johnny Hunt and Dean Keates, who missed the target.

Janos Kovacs wasted Luton's best chance when his close-range header whistled past the far post.

We are right in the mix - Buckle

"It was a really tough game, our toughest game of the season so far.

"I think both teams will be thankful for a point because there were chances at both ends, first half and second half.

"Wrexham are a strong team. Last season they battered us in the league in many ways - 19 points, I think, was the difference between the two teams and we haven't had a great deal of time to try and bridge that gap.

"A clean sheet was something we needed to get especially after the disappointment last week."

Wrexham assistant manager Billy Barr told BBC Radio Wales:

"We'd have taken that before the game I think. But the lads are a little bit disappointed because second half we created some decent chances in the final third, just the final ball let us down.

"But overall, going away to Cambridge last week and today we would have taken four points definitely.

"You can't come to Luton like we did in the play-offs and be as open as we were back then, so the two wide lads dropping back in, the two full-backs getting tight, I think everybody did their jobs today.

"Andy Bishop has waited so long for his chance... I thought he did well. He's not match-fit yet, you can see that, but his touches and his chance the second half that he nearly got, maybe in a couple of weeks time it'll be touch out of your feet and strike."
