Barnsley have confirmed that David Flitcroft will take charge of the side for Tuesday's match at Peterborough.

The Tykes, who are bottom of the Championship, sacked manager Keith Hill on Saturday after the 3-1 defeat by Blackburn Rovers.

Former Chester and Rochdale midfielder Flitcroft, 38, had worked as Hill's assistant since January 2007, first at Dale and then at Barnsley.

The club say they will comment further on the managerial situation this week.

The Oakwell side have only won five league games this season and are four points from safety.
