Chelsea boosted by Terry's return

Chelsea captain John Terry has made his return in an Under-21s match after two months out with a knee injury.

The centre-back, who was injured in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, played 45 minutes and team manager Dermot Drummy said: "He looked in good shape."

Terry, 32, was watched by Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez, who said earlier this week that he could be fit for Saturday's trip to Stoke.

The former England captain has yet to play for Chelsea under the Spaniard.

Terry, who played the first half of the 2-0 win over Fulham, told Chelsea TV, external that he was feeling fine.

He has not featured for the Blues since injuring his knee in a collision with Reds striker Luis Suarez.

That was his first match back after serving a four-game ban for racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Terry had initially been expected to miss three weeks of action, but is only closing in on a return to the first team after two months on the sidelines.

In that time, Chelsea have won only four Premier League matches, however, they still lie fourth in the Premier League, one point behind third-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.
