Braintree Town 2-1 Alfreton Town
- Published
Sean Marks scored after only 19 seconds as Braintree Town beat Alfreton in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
The striker converted from 12 yards, getting on the end of Ben Wright's ball, while Kenny Davis went close.
Davies doubled Braintree's lead from the spot five minutes from time when Marks was brought down by Jordan Rose.
Despite scoring through Louie Soares from the edge of the box in stoppage time, Alfreton's five-match unbeaten run in the league came to an end.
The result leaves Alfreton only four points clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile Braintree, who have at least one game in hand over everybody else, look to have secured another season in the fifth tier of English football.
