Mansfield Town moved two points clear at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier with victory over Macclesfield.

Two precise Adam Murray free-kicks helped put the Stags in control after a dominant first-half performance.

His first was nodded in by Matt Green for his 23rd goal of the season, followed by Luke Jones's header.

Lee Stevenson slotted in Mansfield's third after being sent free by Louis Briscoe, before Pablo Mills headed in a Macclesfield consolation.

The Stags, who have a game in hand over second-placed Kidderminster, went close early on when Colin Daniel shot across the face of goal.

Paul Cox's side continued to impresses throughout the half and took the lead after Ryan Jackson fouled Lee Stevenson.

Murray set up Green for his fifth goal in four games to make him the leading scorer in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Thierry Audel's challenge on Anthony Howell saw Murray's free-kick powerfully headed home by Jones for an eighth goal of the season.

Stevenson then chased down Briscoe's pass down the inside right channel for Mansfield's third.

Mills headed in a Ryan Jackson free-kick a minute before time, but there was no denying the Stags another vital win.
