Barnet were relegated from League Two after slipping to a devastating defeat at a clinical Northampton Town.

Keanu Marsh-Brown blew a huge chance to put Barnet ahead before half-time when he beat the offside trap and shot straight at Lee Nicholls with Luke Gambin better placed to score.

And the Bees were made to pay when Northampton's Roy O'Donovan's 15-yard right-footed shot found the net.

Victory was sealed minutes later when Luke Guttridge scored from close range.

Defeat for Edgar Davids's side, coupled with victory for AFC Wimbledon at Fleetwood, meant they drop down to the Football Conference after eight seasons in League Two.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd tells BBC Radio Northampton:

"I wanted to make sure that, in the big games, we have everybody fit.

"The first half wasn't particularly good but the second half we were very, very strong.

"When Adebayo Akinfenwa came on, it changed the game. We could have had a couple more goals.

"It's been a massive team effort to get where we are and I'm very careful not to do 'well done' speeches, because our season has just begun."
