Torquay United have agreed a deal to sign former Northampton Town midfielder Ben Harding on a two-year contract.

The League Two club expect the 28-year-old to complete the formalities of his move to Plainmoor by Monday.

"He hasn't signed yet but that's only down to paperwork," manager Alan Knill told the club website., external

Harding left the Cobblers at the end of the season, having featured in their 3-0 play-off final defeat by Bradford City at Wembley in May.

Knill added: "He is a big player and somebody I've always liked. He is used to being in winning teams and knows what it takes.

"It is a credit to him because there were clubs that wanted to sign him who were closer to where he lives but he's decided to come here."
