Leicester 0-0 Leeds

Leicester and Leeds stuttered to a draw in an uninspiring game of few chances at the King Power Stadium.

Both teams had won their first league game last week but they struggled to muster any sort of noteworthy chance in a low-key first half.

After the break, Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater went close when he spun on the ball and bent a shot just over.

Leicester finished stronger and striker Chris Wood went on a surging run before his shot came back off the Leeds post.

Striker Matt Smith did give the home side a late scare when his far post header was tipped against the side-netting by keeper Kasper Schmeichel, although the effort appeared to be going wide.

However, it was a game in which the defences dominated. Leicester were the second highest scorers at home in the Championship last season but the visitors limited the home side to fleeting chances as both teams had to be content with a point.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson:

"I think it was always going to be tight. Leeds came with a decent game plan and tried to limit the number of chances we had. We had the best clear-cut chances but we were unable to take one.

"I thought it was an interesting game with two decent sides who cancelled each other out. It was a decent game and I felt comfortable throughout.

"You credit Leeds for how they went about the game and that was how games are in the Championship - very tight and there for the taking."

Leeds manager Brian McDermott:

"They hit the post, but we started well and I thought we might have nicked a goal.

"We had a good chance through a Matt Smith header but there was not much in the game. We nullified each other and it was very tight.

"But this is not an easy place to come and get a result from. Home or away you try and win the game and it is what it is. We've got four points and it's nice to get off to a start. We have a couple of good results."
