Crawley have signed winger Luke Rooney on loan from League One rivals Swindon until January.

The 22-year-old has struggled for first-team football since arriving at the County Ground from Gillingham for a six-figure fee in January 2012.

He spent four months out on loan at Burton and then Rotherham last season but was recalled to the Town side at the end of the campaign.

Rooney has not been given a squad number by Swindon for this term.

Crawley, who started the season with only 15 professionals in the squad, won their opening League One game against Coventry on Saturday.

The Reds will have Rooney available for Tuesday's game with Cheltenham, who were close to signing the midfielder on loan last season.
