Ross County 1-0 Aberdeen

Rocco Quinn's strike gave Ross County victory against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

After threatening several times earlier in the match, the midfielder fired home his second goal of the season early in the second half.

Niall McGinn had come close to giving the Dons the lead with a powerful shot that drew a save from Mark Brown.

And Brown blocked Scott Vernon's header to keep County's lead intact and secure all three points.

Derek Adams' side move into double figures for the season and are now four points behind fourth-placed Aberdeen.

Quinn perhaps should have put County ahead when put through by Richie Brittain early on, the midfielder firing high and wide of target.

Aberdeen welcomed Niall McGinn back in to their starting line-up and the forward fired wide midway through the first half.

However, the flow of play was interrupted when referee Crawford Allan pulled up with an injury and the match resumed several minutes later with David Somers taking over as whistler and Allan assuming Sommers' role of fourth official.

Quinn flashed a shot wide and McGinn then tested goalkeeper Mark Brown with a shot from outside the box in first-half injury time.

Having been so prominent in County's attacks, Quinn finally broke the deadlock after being put through by Melvin De Leeuw.

Though the angle was tight, the 27-year-old found the power and direction he needed to beat Jamie Langfield from inside the box.

The Dons tried to respond and Scott Vernon's header from Peter Pawlett's cross was saved by Brown.

Langfield smothered a shot from Graham Carey and De Leeuw's replacement Kevin Luckassen almost doubled the home side's lead with a header just wide.

But, in the end, one goal proved to be enough for the Dingwall men.
