Coventry put three goals past 10-man Notts County to climb into League One's top half.

The game had been evenly contested until City took advantage of the 41st-minute sending off, with Danny Haynes shown a straight red card for a high tackle on Jordan Clarke.

Leon Clarke struck first with an in-off-the-bar shot, doubling the lead when he latched onto a back pass.

Callum Wilson added the third to keep Notts in the bottom four.

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire:

"It was a very difficult day in terms of the weather conditions.

"It can often be harder to play against 10 men. There can be a tendency to relax and to play in a different manner, so we had to make sure that our work rate went up even further, and to be fair it was magnificent in the second half.

"The players are doing exceptionally well just now. The only disappointment today was the booking to John Fleck, but that was the only disappointment in a very professional performance.

"The strikers are working so hard for the team and they're getting the rewards for that. Really pleased with the two of them, and with the team, and with another clean sheet.

"We're 15 games into a season. At this moment in time if we keep doing what we're doing and keep our feet firmly on the ground and we stay clear of too many injuries then we can be a very good team."
