Gateshead battled back against struggling Chester to earn their second successive 1-1 draw.
Chester, who are now winless in eight, took an early lead when Ross Killock nodded in John Rooney's free-kick.
James Marwood equalised for the visitors when he latched on to Liam Hatch's ball over the top and fired home.
James Brown and James Curtis both went close as the visitors searched for a late winner, but Chester held on.

Chester manager Neil Young told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"We've got to remember that we're part-time and we only played 48 hours ago. A lot of these lads haven't played for a while.
"The effort and commitment again - you can't fault it. They've kept going and got something from the game and it would have been unfair if they hadn't."
