Transfer window: Oguchi Onyewu joins Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have signed defender Oguchi Onyewu until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old USA centre-back joined QPR in October on a contract until January, but did not play a game.

Onyewu has 68 international caps and played 11 times for Newcastle United during a loan spell in 2007.

His arrival comes as a welcome boost to the Owls, who had expected to extend the loan deal of Roger Johnson, but he instead joined West Ham United.
