Craig Bryson: Derby County reject Burnley bid for midfielder

Midfielder Bryson agreed a three-year deal with Derby County when he joined from Kilmarnock in 2011

Derby County have rejected a bid, thought to be £750,000, from Burnley for midfielder Craig Bryson.

The Rams also confirmed that talks to extend the 27-year-old's contract with the Championship club are ongoing.

Bryson is only one year into his a three-year deal which keeps him at Derby until the summer of 2016.

The Scotland international scored 16 goals in 49 appearances last term as Steve McClaren's side finished runners-up to QPR in the play-off final.

Burnley earned automatic promotion to the Premier League by finishing one place above Derby in the Championship table.

Bryson has played 134 matches and found the net 27 times since joining the East Midlands club from Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock in 2011.

Derby have recently said that they will do all they can to keep their squad together, with England Under-21 international Will Hughes and Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick among players attracting interest from other clubs.

Meanwhile, the Rams have recently had two bids of their own rejected for West Bromwich Albion midfielder George Thorne.
