George Thorne: West Brom reject Derby County offer

Thorne was seen as a key factor for Derby's fine form towards the end of the season

West Bromwich Albion have rejected a bid, thought to be in the region of £1m, from Derby County for midfielder George Thorne.

The 21-year-old spent four months on loan with the Rams last season and they are keen to make the deal permanent.

Baggies technical director Terry Burton told the club website:, external "We have no intention of selling George."

Meanwhile Derby have sealed the free transfer signing of ex-Arsenal and Sevilla midfielder Alban Bunjaku, 20.

He has signed a two-year contract.

Head of football operations Chris Evans told the club website: , external"Following a successful trial, we are delighted to welcome Alban on board.

"He fits the criteria for the type of player we want to bring in for the development group."

Thorne played a pivotal role in helping Derby finish third in the Championship and reach the play-off final last season.

Burton added: "We have told Derby he is not for sale and that is the end of the matter as far as we're concerned."
