Cardiff City will not 'panic' over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's position

Cardiff City will not make a hasty reaction regarding the future of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite the nature of Saturday's defeat by Norwich.

The Bluebirds were leading 2-0 at half-time before the Canaries came back to win 4-2.

Solskjaer is preparing his side for Tuesday's game against Middlesbrough.

A highly placed source at the club said chairman Mehmet Dalman was "not the sort of person to panic".

However it is clear the club hierarchy, who backed Solskjaer to the hilt in the transfer window, will expect an improvement in a busy spell before the next international break in October.

The former Manchester United striker succeeded Malky Mackay at Cardiff in January but failed to save the club from relegation after one season in the Premier League.

Solskjaer's side have lost one and drawn two of their last three Championship matches and are 15th in the table with eight points from six games.

There have been calls on social media and on the BBC Radio Wales phone-in for Welshman Tony Pulis to be drafted in to replace the former Norway international.

Former Stoke City manager Pulis is available after leaving Crystal Palace in August.

Before the home match against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, fans representatives are due to meet chairman Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo.

Cardiff's new £5m defender Bruno Ecuele Manga is poised to make his debut against Middlesbrough, who are one point above the Bluebirds in 11th.

Full-back Fabio da Silva is out with a muscle injury for up to a week while winger Craig Noone makes his comeback in the development side's match against Swansea on Monday.
