Wycombe Wanderers moved to the top of League Two table with a 3-1 victory over 10-man Morecambe.

Sam Wood gave the Chairboys an early lead with a stunning 40-yard volley on his 100th Wycombe appearance.

Paul Hayes soon doubled their lead from close range before Andy Fleming pulled one back for the Shrimps from Jamie Devitt's cross.

Devitt was later sent off for pushing Peter Murphy before Joe Jacobson's free-kick sealed the win for Wycombe.

Wycombe are unbeaten in their last nine league games, while Morecambe, who remain in the play-off spots, have lost four of their last five in the league.

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Ainsworth on Morecambe v Wycombe

"It's fantastic for the lads to be able to see the table and see who's on top of the league. I thought they were two outstanding goals today and we probably deserve to be up there.

"I'm really pleased that we're at the top of the table, I'm not going to be a manager who lies and says we don't want to be there - it's fantastic to say that.

"But deep down I want to gets as many points as possible on the board as we can. You won't get anything else from me until we get just over 50 points to keep us in League Two."
