Championship strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion have re-signed Nottingham Forest defender Greg Halford on loan.

The 30-year-old joined the Seagulls on a one-month deal in November, featuring six times before his initial spell at the Amex Stadium expired on Thursday.

Halford re-joins Brighton on a short-term deal, allowing him to be eligible for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Brentford.

He has agreed to stay until the end of the season, with the paperwork to be completed after facing the Bees.

"Greg has done well in his period of time here," said recently-appointed Brighton manager Chris Hughton.

"To bring someone back who already knows the club, the staff and the players so early in the window is something we are delighted about.

"He gives us good scope in the various positions he can play, and of course he is a very experienced player and I am pleased to welcome him back."
