Paul Rachubka: Crewe Alexandra bring in ex-Man Utd keeper

Paul Rachubka started just one top-flight game for Manchester United
Crewe Alexandra have brought in a new back-up goalkeeper by signing former Manchester United trainee Paul Rachubka until the end of the season.
Rachubka, 33, has been without a club since leaving Crewe's League One rivals Oldham Athletic in January.
He started the season on a one-year deal at Oldham, which was terminated by mutual agreement following their loan signing of Jake Kean from Blackburn.

After starting as a trainee with Manchester United, Rachubka made three first-team appearances in two years, being loaned out to Royal Antwerp and Oldham, before moving to Charlton for £200,000 in 2002. He had loans at Burnley, Huddersfield Town (twice), MK Dons and Northampton Town before signing on a more permanent basis with Huddersfield in 2004. He has since been signed by Blackpool, Leeds and Oldham, with further loans at Peterborough, Tranmere, Leyton Orient and Accrington Stanley. |
He is Crewe's latest answer as back-up cover for first-choice Ben Garratt.
In the wake of Scott Shearer's exit to join Burton Albion on loan in early January, Crewe boss Steve Davis gambled by going without a replacement keeper on the bench for three games.
He then signed youngster Ross Etheridge from Derby County on a month's loan, but that has now come to an end, allowing him to turn to the much-travelled Rachubka, who is making his 19th career move.
