Istria Cup: Wales Women 1-0 Costa Rica

Jayne Ludlow was Reading manager before succeeding Jarmo Matikainen as Wales boss

Jayne Ludlow gained her first win as Wales women's manager with a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in the Istria Cup in Croatia.

Reading defender Kylie Davies scored her first international goal to secure victory with 14 minutes remaining.

Bristol Academy's Loren Dykes went close when her cross-come-shot struck the bar in the first half.

Helen Bleazard and Laura May Walkley saw second-half shots saved before Davies scored the winner.

Wales are preparing for the Euro 2017 campaign and the qualifying draw will be held in April.

Ludlow's side were beaten 1-0 by France B in their opening game of the Istria Cup and held to a 0-0 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They face hosts Croatia in fifth/sixth place play-off match on Wednesday.
