Former Wales manager John Toshack says he is convinced Chris Coleman's side can qualify for Euro 2016.
Unbeaten Wales travel to Israel for Saturday's game second in Group B, a point behind their hosts who have won all three of their qualifiers to date.
"I really do feel this is our time," said Toshack, now manager of Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.
"I think Chris has been in there long enough and he knows what he's got and he knows how best to go about it."
But the former Liverpool striker added: "Israel away from home won't be easy. It will be a tough, difficult game."
Wales have not qualified for the finals of a major competition since the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, where they reached the last eight.
Former Real Madrid coach Toshack, who managed his country between 2004 and 2010, was a member of the Wales side that reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 1976 but under that year's format only the semi-finals and final were staged by a host nation, Yugoslavia.
Wales have two wins and two draws from their four games as they bid to reach next summer's finals in France.
Coleman's side maintained their unbeaten record with a 0-0 draw away to World Cup quarter-finalists Belgium in November. They face the same opponents on Friday, 12 June in Cardiff before travelling to Cyprus in September.
Wales' campaign concludes with home games against Israel and Andorra, either side of a trip to Bosnia-Hercegovina.
