Ross County have completed the transfer of Queen of the South midfielder Ian McShane on a three-year contract.

A fee had been agreed on Thursday for the 22-year-old, who played under Jim McIntyre while he was Queens manager.

McIntyre told the Ross County website: "I am very delighted to get Ian on board at the club.

"He brings with him a great deal of footballing qualities and experience which will blend very well into the team."

McShane, who came through the youth ranks at Palmerston Park, made 41 appearances this season as the Doonhamers finished fourth in the Scottish Championship.

County had earlier added defender Darren Barr to a list of 12 players who were told on Wednesday they were being released.

Loan players Filip Kiss and Cameron Burgess will return to parent clubs Cardiff City and Fulham respectively.

McIntyre is also hopeful of retaining the services of midfielders Martin Woods and Jackson Irvine, who has been on loan at the Premiership club this season.

"We have offered Martin Woods a contract and we would like to bring Jackson back, but the ball is firmly in Celtic's court with that one," he said.

"Darren Barr is away. We will be looking to add another midfielder.

"We have offered contracts to seven players. So if we can manage to secure them then it means we only have to add another seven.

"So we will just need to see how the discussions go."
