Jersey are to play Isthmian League Division One North side Thamesmead Town in a pre-season friendly.

They will head to the east London club, who play at the same level as Guernsey FC in the English football pyramid, on Saturday, 1 August.

Jersey's last game saw them beat Guernsey 3-2 in their annual clash for the Muratti Vase last month.

The match will be Jersey's first after hosting the Island Games, which begin later this month.

"It's an excellent game to have, it promises to be a great day for the club and the ideal culmination of our pre-season campaign," Thamesmead manager Terry Spillane told the club website., external

"We hope that it'll attract the attention that it deserves and is undoubtedly the flagship of our pre-season. You never know it may become an annual game."

Jersey have been looking to increase their number of games in the past few years and appointed former Aston Villa manager Brian Little last November as their director of football to try and help them do so.
