Former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has been appointed as the new manager of Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande.

Scolari, who led Brazil to World Cup success in 2002 and to the semi-final in his home country in 2014, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

"I knew China was spending a lot to improve its football now and Guangzhou is one of the pioneers," he said.

Ex-Chelsea boss Scolari, 65, resigned from Brazilian club Gremio in May.
