Championship club Charlton Athletic have signed striker Simon Makienok on a season-long loan from Palermo.

The 24-year-old Denmark international, who is 6ft 7in tall, joined the Serie A side from Brondby last summer.

"We now have a player who finally fills that number nine position we have been searching for," Addicks head coach Guy Luzon told the club website.

"He will make us stronger in attack and his height will give us a very different threat."

The Israeli added: "He is very good with his feet, also."

Makienok becomes Charlton's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of defender Patrick Bauer and midfielder El Hadji Ba.
