Exeter City have signed centre-back Troy Brown following his release by recently-relegated Cheltenham Town.

The 24-year-old made 48 appearances in League Two last season and is boss Paul Tisdale's fourth summer signing.

"Troy is a very good age. We've played against him numerous times and it's nice to have the opportunity to sign him," Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon.

"He's athletic, determined and I've always liked him. He can add to the team and we can add to him."

Brown started his professional career at Fulham and has also spent time at Rotherham and Aldershot.

He joins Manny Oyeleke,Bobby Olejnik and Lee Holmes, who have also moved to St James Park this summer.

"A central defender is something we've looked at with Scot (Bennett) and Pat (Baldwin) leaving - with Jordan Moore-Taylor being injured it put more of an emphasis on the signing," added Tisdale.

"We've needed to add balance and depth to our whole squad and he (Brown) can also play at right-back or in-front of the back four."
