Queen of the South have signed former Hearts midfielder Callum Tapping after the 22-year-old left Brechin City.

Tapping, who was a youth with Celtic, Hamilton Academical and Tottenham Hotspur, rejected the offer of a new contract from the League One club.

The Scotland Under-21 international was keen to return to full-time football and agreed a one-year deal in Dumfries.

Tapping made 17 appearances for Brechin last season, having arrived at Glebe Park from Hearts last summer.

The London-born midfielder, who also spent some time on loan to Alloa Athletic and played for Scotland Under-21s, will travel with the Championship club's squad to La Manga for pre-season training.
