Bulgarian midfielder Spas Georgiev has signed for Livingston on a two-year contract.

The 23-year-old previously spent two years with Dobrudzha Dobrich in his national B Division.

Georgiev had played there under one of Livingston manager Mark Burchill's former team-mates at Portsmouth.

Burchill told his club website: "I've known Spas for a few years as he played for my good friend Svetoslav Todorov in Bulgaria."

Georgiev began his career with Slavia Sofia but had a spell on loan with Montana after falling out of the first-team reckoning.

He moved on to Dobrudzha under Todorov, now boss of Bulgaria's Under-19, in 2013 but made fewer appearances last season after the head coach's departure.

Now he becomes Burchill's seventh summer addition since a signing embargo imposed on the club was lifted.

"He's a very fast, direct player and a great addition to the squad," added Burchill.
