Rangers have signed former Manchester United youth Jordan Thompson on a two-year deal.

The Northern Irish midfielder, 18, was released by United in the summer.

"To run out at Ibrox would be a dream come true being a Rangers fan - it would leave me speechless," he told the Rangers website.

"It was a brilliant feeling signing my contract. I've been over for a match before with my dad, but today it was just amazing to sign."

Manager Mark Warburton has already recruited goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and defenders Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson ahead of his maiden campaign at Ibrox.

And Thompson hopes he can add flair to Rangers' midfield.

"There were a few other clubs that I was on trial at, but when I came to Rangers I really enjoyed it," he added.

"I'm very creative within the middle of the park. I can tackle and make a good pass, and hopefully I can show fans that over the next few seasons."
