AJ Leitch-Smith: Port Vale sign ex-Crewe striker on 12-month deal

League One side Port Vale have signed former Crewe Alexandra striker AJ Leitch-Smith on a one-year contract.
Leitch-Smith, 25, who has spent pre-season with Vale following his release by Yeovil Town this summer, has now clinched a 12-month deal.
Vale boss Rob Page was always keen on signing the forward but said any move had to fit in with the club's budget.
"I have been very impressed with how he has performed in training since pre-season started," said Page.

Vale could now have seven ex-Crewe players in their starting line-up when the two local rivals meet at Gresty Road on the first day of the season. |
Apart from this summer's signings, Anthony Grant, Uche Ikpeazu and AJ Leitch-Smith, Vale already had defender Adam Yates, midfielders Colin Daniel and Michael O'Connor and winger Byron Moore on their books. |
"He is a player with lots of potential and someone I believe has a lot to offer. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with him this season."
After five years at Gresty Road, Leitch-Smith moved to Yeovil last summer and scored twice in 33 league games.
He becomes Vale's seventh signing of the summer, joining fellow ex-Crewe players Anthony Grant and Uche Ikpeazu at Vale Park.
