Brighton have signed Finland Under-21 international Vahid Hambo from FC Inter Turku for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old, who has scored 14 goals in 13 appearances this season, has agreed a two-year contract with the Championship club.
"Vahid has a good goalscoring record this year in Finland and we hope that is something he can replicate here," Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said.
"He's a powerful player and is someone we see as adding to our options."
Hambo began his career as a trainee at HJK Helsinki, before spending two years in the academy of Italian club Sampdoria.
He returned to his homeland to join FC Ilves last year before switching to fellow Veikkausliiga side Inter Turku.
Hughton confirmed that Hambo will spend time with the club's development squad before stepping up to the first team.
"I want to see him pushing for a place in the squad at some stage this season," he said.
"It's likely he will begin by playing some games for our Under-21 side to help him make the transition to English football."
