Crawley Town have signed ex-Birmingham goalkeeper Callum Preston on a one-year deal and brought in Newcastle stopper Freddie Woodman on loan.

Preston, 19, was a free agent after leaving the Blues earlier this summer and has spent most of pre-season with the League Two side.

Woodman, 18, came through Newcastle's youth ranks but is yet to make his senior debut for the Magpies.

The England Under-19 international will be with the Reds until 2 January.

Preston, a Wales Under-19 international, did not make a senior appearance for Birmingham but had loan spells at non-league sides Worcester City and AFC Telford United.

Crawley had been looking to sign a new goalkeeper after Brian Jensen, their only senior stopper, was released at the end of last season.

The duo become Crawley's eighth and ninth signings of the transfer window.
