Former Millwall and Portsmouth centre-back Paul Robinson has signed for AFC Wimbledon after a recent trial.

The 33-year-old made more than 300 appearances for Millwall before joining Pompey on a free transfer at the start of last season.

Robinson, who played alongside Dons manager Neal Ardley at Millwall, was released by Portsmouth last week after making 38 appearances for the club.

"I am absolutely delighted to have signed him," said Ardley.

"He is a leader and has been a captain everywhere he has been. Having played with Paul, I know how good a player he is and we are getting one of the best centre-backs in the league.

"Paul is a great organiser and he is very aggressive and dominant in the air in both boxes. His decision-making skills are also very good and he knows when to go and deal with things and when to play safe."
