Tonev made nine appearances for Celtic last term, three as a substitute

Aston Villa's Bulgaria forward Aleksandar Tonev has joined Italian Serie A side Frosinone.

The 25-year-old joined Villa from Lech Poznan in 2013 and spent last season on loan at Celtic.

In October he was banned for seven matches after being found guilty of racially abusing Aberdeen's Shay Logan.

Tonev was contracted to Villa until 2017 but made just six starts and 11 substitute appearances for the club and did not score or provide an assist.
