Former Tottenham and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has signed a one-year deal with PAOK of Greece.

The 34-year-old Bulgarian, without a club since leaving Monaco in the summer, held talks with Aston Villa on Tuesday but it is understood the club would not meet his wage demands.

After starting his career at CSKA Sofia, he joined Bayer Leverkusen before a £10.9m move to Spurs in 2006.

He joined United for £30m in 2008, helping the club win two league titles.

Berbatov left Old Trafford in 2012 to join Fulham, where he spent two years before moving to Monaco.
