Nottingham Forest have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams on a loan deal until 16 January.

The 21-year-old Wales international was expected to join the Championship side before the end of the transfer window, but the deal was not finalised in time.

Williams, who has won seven caps, struggled with injury last term and is yet to play this season.

He told BBC Nottingham Sport: "The club is massive. When I've played here, it's been rocking. It's very exciting."

Williams was handed his Eagles debut by Forest manager Dougie Freedman when the Scot was in charge at Selhurst Park.

"I can't thank him enough because he gave me my breakthrough in the football world," Williams said.

"That was a good factor in coming here."
