Crewe have signed goalkeeper Danijel Nizic on a month's youth loan from Burnley as cover following an injury to number two Dave Richards.

The 20-year-old Australian is yet to make his debut since signing for the Championship side in July 2013.

He will provide cover for first-choice keeper Ben Garratt after Richards suffered a foot injury in training.

Crewe Alexandra's home record of concern

Crewe are still to win in six home matches this season. Thy drew their first two League One games, either side of exiting the League Cup in the first round. And they have now lost their last three on the spin at Gresty Road.

Nizic, Burnley's third-choice keeper, was last loaned out by the Clarets to non-league Workington in January 2014.

He is also available for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, for which Crewe received a first round bye in this year's competition.

The 2012 winners are now scheduled to enter this season's trophy by hosting Wigan Athletic next Tuesday night (6 October, 19:30 BST), the second of two home games in four days after this Saturday's visit of Chesterfield to League One's bottom club.
